GRW worked with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government to design a shared use trail, as well as a low water crossing to replace an existing pedestrian bridge, improving passage from a YMCA to the surrounding neighborhood. The 10-foot-wide, approximately 1,750 LF trail project connects the western side of the Beaumont YMCA parking lot to the southern end of Harrods Hill Park near the existing basketball court.

Overall services required included topographic and boundary surveys, preliminary and final design, preparation of easement and right of way drawings, as well as associated funding and regulatory paperwork. Acquisition of property or easements for three parcels were required.

Because the trail crosses a floodway and floodplain, a No Rise/No Impact certification  was required for the construction of the low water crossing and removal of the existing pedestrian bridge.

The project was primarily funded through a Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant, administered through KYTC's Office of Local Programs.
