At the American Council of Engineering Companies of Kentucky (ACEC-KY)’s recent annual meeting, GRW’s Brad Montgomery was sworn in as the organization’s president of the Executive Board for 2016-2017. In this role, he will help ACEC-KY promote increased quality of service and performance in the engineering industry. Also in June, he began his three-year appointment to the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Board of Directors.

In addition, Brad’s involvement as a founding member of the ACEC-KY's Environment and Energy Committee (EEC) has led to appointments with several Kentucky Division of Water (KDOW) groups whose goals include simplifying and streamlining current KDOW procedures and regulations. These KDOW groups include:

  • KDOW Wastewater Advisory Council: In addition to serving on the council, Brad is a member of two of its subcommittees: the Nutrient Work Group and the Wastewater Treatment Plant Optimization Pilot Program Work Group.
  • KDOW Lead in Drinking Water Workgroup: This recently formed group was proactively created to prevent lead from entering the state’s drinking water; there are currently only three such workgroups in the United States. Kentucky’s workgroup includes 13 of state’s water industry experts who are reviewing existing protocols, lead/copper rules, service line replacement programs, and compliance monitoring activities. Upon completion of the review, the group will develop a report and present recommendations to KDOW.

Brad, and GRW’s many other water resources engineers involved in state and national industry organizations, help ensure our clients’ projects meet current regulations and are prepared for future regulations as well.
