Joe Pavoni is the first GRW employee to earn the designation Assoc. DBIA (Associate Design-Build Professional) by successfully completing the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)’s comprehensive education, training, and certification testing program.
Joe’s Assoc. DBIA certification, according to the DBIA, is “the nation’s only measurable standard of an individual’s knowledge of the Design-Build Done Right™ principles” – it identifies him as an “experienced design and construction professional with a firm understanding of design-build project delivery.”
Design-build is a project delivery method used frequently by clients of all types – here's an example – and a method we have significant experience with. Read more about a few of GRW's design-build projects. You can read more about design-build in this interview with Monty Maynard, who heads up GRW’s mechanical, electrical and structural engineering division. Monty also was interviewed for this Lane Report article about design-build.
Credentials such as this are obtained and maintained following many hours of study, completion of classes and exams, as well as on-the-job experience. They lend reassurance and credibility. Such credentials indicate specialized knowledge and can benefit our clients, especially if the designations are required for a project - and they often are. A few other designations you may have heard of include PE (Professional Engineer), AIA (designation used by Registered Architects), PLS (Professional Land Surveyor), GISP (certified Geographic Information System Professional), PLA (Professional Landscape Architect), and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
Joe Pavoni, PE, LEED AP, Assoc. DBIA, has approximately 20 years of experience (including 15 with GRW) as a water resources engineer. Joe manages our firm’s Louisville office.
